To answer a call

Sunday evening I found Boyd snickering over this very official, very serious e-mail notification...

To our dearest Boyd Steven Kent,
We, The White Middle Class Kent Families For More Blog Updatage (WMCKFFMBU) (pronounced woom-uck-fum-boo), are starting a petition to protest the severe lack of blog updatage from your family. So far we have gathered two signatures. If you would like to see some blog updatage from Boyd please sign the petition and forward it on while cc'ing a copy to Boyd.

Karen Kent
We thank you for your cooperation
The WMCKFFMBU General Board of Directors

So okay, I'll bite. Such a clever request should not be ignored. I don't think the WMCKFFMBU General Board of Directors is naive enough to think Boyd would actually update our blog himself (he can't even remember the web address), but knew that he would pass the petition on to someone who would.
To get right down to it, here's a picture of baby Nelson. What everyone really wants to see.

Isn't he sweet! (Photography credits go to my sister Bethany). So the birth story in a nut shell. I had tons of false labor and false alarms. I tested positive for Group B strep this time which only means I needed to be to the hospital at least 4 hours before the birth to get a dose of antibiotics. That made us a little eager to get there in time, thus all the false alarms. (To our credit, we never did make it all the way to the hospital before the big day). Anyways, we were finally sure it was time so put our kids to bed at Barrett & Kendra's, spent some time laboring at home, and then officially checked into the hospital at 2:30 a.m. He came 2 hours later which means after all that worrying we did indeed not make it in time for the antibiotics to reach the baby. After keeping us in the hospital for 48 hours to make sure Nelson didn't get sick they released us with a clean bill of health. End of story, or really just the beginning of a whole new adventure...3 kids!

Just days after Nelson's arrival was Andrew's 2nd birthday. Thankfully he didn't realize that we celebrated his birthday a week late. He was pretty excited to find the house decorated the morning of his party and to have all the local family over for cake, ice cream, and presents that evening. If you can't tell his cake is a construction site.

This boy loves to wear hats. Here he is modeling his new birthday hat and monster truck.

And of course the Halloween costumes. James was a cowboy (you'll find him looking like this on any given day anyways) and Andrew a lion. We invoked the power of the Great Pumpkin again to limit the boys candy intake. They fill a ziplock bag of their favorite treats then leave the rest of the candy to the Great Pumpkin in exchange for a book. Works like a charm, but I wonder how much mileage we'll get out of it. Here they are on the big night.

Nelson was passed out on the couch while I passed out candy.

There you have it...we updated. I'll try to do better, but I'm not making any promises.

It was totally worth the wait. Nelson is really a cutie. (I'll take your two hours anyday over karen's 36. Strep or no) We will have to thank the WMCKFFMBU for this wonderful opportunity.

Such cute pics of the boys!! That baby picture of Nelson is just perfect!

Also love the construction cake!!
I'll have to think about your great pumpkin idea! Sounds like a good way to get rid of the majority of the Halloween candy pretty painlessly.

Thanks for the update! Although as a new mother of three you have every right to tell Bryan to go stick his head in a toilet and mind his own business!

I thought the same thing when I got the e-mail WMCKFFMBU, what makes you think Boyd updates the blog. That would be nothing short of a miracle.

Nelson is such a sweatheart.

Love you,

Nyla

Fun to catch up. I'm amazed at the events that have happened in one year. 3 boys and a house is quite an accomplishment.
